FOMC (Fed meeting) explained

Federal Open Market Committee

Quick definition: The FOMC is the committee of the US Federal Reserve (Fed) that meets 8 times a year to decide interest rates.

The rate decision and the Fed Chair's remarks after the meeting have a major impact on global capital flows, including crypto.

Rate cuts (easing) are usually good for crypto, while hiking or holding rates high (tightening) usually puts pressure on it.

FOMC results are usually announced around 1 or 2 AM GMT+7, and the market can swing sharply in both directions.

💡 Example

The Fed cuts rates by 0.25% as expected but sounds cautious: BTC rises and then falls, sweeping both sides within 1 hour.
